Haydn - Nelson Mass
Our Spring concert sees us team up with the Maidstone Choral Union, conducted by Ciara Considine. The MCU open the concert with Mozart’s Ave Verum Corpus, Laudatae Dominum and Su’ll Aria before MMS conductor Ben Knowles leads the orchestra in a performance of Mozart’s first symphony, written when the composer was just 8 years of age. The MCU join the orchestra to perform three movements from Mozart’s Requiem, the last piece he was writing when he died.
After the interval, the MCU and MMS join forces once more for a performance of Haydn’s iconic Nelson Mass. It is one of the six masses written near the end of his life that are seen as a culmination of Haydn's composition of liturgical music.
